Support for Bone Health
Our bones are living tissue and are constantly being renewed throughout our lives. There are cells that build them (osteoblasts) and cells that break them down (osteoclasts).
After the age of 30, in both women and men, bone resorption by osteoclasts begins to exceed bone formation by osteoblasts, and the balance becomes negative, meaning the rate of bone destruction is greater than the rate of bone formation.
This leads to increased bone resorption, an increase in pores within the bones, reduced bone mass, and consequently reduced bone strength under stress and increased fragility.
The result is osteopenia, which, if appropriate measures are not taken, will progress to osteoporosis.
What factors contribute to osteopenia1?
The factors that contribute to the development of osteopenia are:
- Advancing age
- Vitamin D3 deficiency
- Cortisone use
- A low-calcium diet
- Sedentary lifestyle
- Menopause (in women)
- Low testosterone levels (in men)
- High dietary intake of salt or caffeine
- Smoking
- Excessive alcohol consumption
- Low body weight
- Anorexia nervosa
It is estimated that 1 in 2 Greeks will spend 50% of their lifetime living with osteopenia or osteoporosis. The predisposing factors for osteopenia are largely genetic (60%–80%). By making the right lifestyle choices, including regular exercise and a well-balanced diet rich in calcium and vitamin D3, combined with appropriate vitamin and trace element supplementation, we can significantly strengthen our bone health and substantially improve our quality of life!

TIPS
ostoun is a specialized dietary supplement designed to promote bone and dental health, as well as normal muscle function. Thanks to its unique formulation—enriched with vitamin D3, vitamin K2, and calcium—ostoun plays a significant role in preventing osteoporosis.
It is recommended that women and men over the age of 35 take ostoun once a day to help prevent osteoporosis.
Take one ostoun capsule daily, with breakfast or lunch. It is best to wait one hour before drinking coffee.
If you forget to take ostoun, take the capsule as soon as possible. However, do not take a double dose of ostoun to make up for the missed dose. Do not exceed the daily dose of one capsule.
After the age of 35, the human body begins to lose bone mass faster than it can replace it. Continued loss will lead to osteopenia and, over time, to osteoporosis. Regular, daily use of ostoun is recommended to significantly contribute to promoting bone health and normal muscle function.
During perimenopause, the production of estrogen and progesterone decreases, and it stops at menopause. Among other functions, these hormones strengthen bones, resulting in accelerated bone mass loss in postmenopausal women. Continued loss will lead to osteopenia and, over time, to osteoporosis. Regular, daily intake of ostoun is recommended to significantly contribute to promoting bone health and normal muscle function.
Calcium is a building block of bones, and getting enough of it is essential for maintaining bone density. Vitamin D3 increases the body’s absorption of calcium.
When calcium levels are elevated and there is a simultaneous deficiency or insufficiency of vitamin K2, the so-called “calcium paradox” occurs, characterized by low calcium deposition in the bones and its accumulation in the walls of the arteries, which increases cardiovascular risk.
Vitamin K2 activates the protein osteocalcin, which binds calcium and incorporates it into bone structure, thereby increasing bone density and strengthening the skeleton.
Additionally, K2 activates the MGP protein, protecting the arteries and reducing the risk of atherosclerosis and hypertension.
In conclusion, vitamin K2 supplementation can improve bone quality and health by enhancing the effectiveness of calcium and vitamin D3.
